Accessibility statement

Last updated 6 July 2026Pointing is built to work for everyone, including people who use assistive technology. This statement describes our conformance target, what we've done, what's still incomplete, and how to reach us.

Conformance status

Pointing targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA and has been audited against it. We believe the Service conforms in most respects; known gaps are listed below and we continue to work through them.

What we've done

Concrete measures already shipped across the app.
Semantic landmarks & headingsEvery page exposes a single top-level heading, a logical heading order, and named landmarks (main, navigation, contentinfo) so screen-reader users can jump straight to what they need.
Full keyboard operabilityEvery interactive control — voting cards, menus, dialogs, the consent chooser — is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
Announced live updatesRound reveals, vote counts, and connection status changes are announced to assistive technology as they happen, not just shown visually.
Reduced-motion supportDecorative animation (reveal transitions, progress fills, status pulses) respects your OS "reduce motion" setting and an in-app override in Settings — both collapse motion to an instant state change.
Color contrastText and interactive states meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios in both light and dark themes.

Known limitations

Honest gaps we haven't closed yet.
Decorative previewsIllustrative previews (e.g. the mode-showcase panel, the org-settings mock) are marked aria-hidden by design — the adjacent text carries the same information for assistive technology, but the visual mock itself isn't exposed to screen readers.
Third-party sign-inAccount sign-in is embedded from our authentication provider (Clerk); its accessibility depends on that provider's own conformance.
